Karate means “empty hand.” Karate is a very popular martial art that originated in Japan in the 19th century. It is a rewarding way to become confident and fit. Karate is a great way to improve self confidence, well being, overall physical and mental health and to reduce stress. 

Shotokan karate follows a traditional, effective and efficient means of self defence without the use of weapons. We are traditional Shotokan practitioners and from our teaching you will learn to be devastating in your punches, blocks and kicks. From new beginners through to experienced black belts, we are continually seeking to perfect our technique on all our strikes and blocks. The patience and dedication required to continually improve technique is a fundamental principle of karate training.

An important part of traditional Shotokan karate comes in recognising that we should always strive to perfect our technique based on traditional teachings. We do not waver from the way the Masters taught us.
