How do I start training?

The first step is to get in touch using the contact details at the top of the site. Read this article for more info.

How long does it take to get a black belt?

This depends on how much time you have to commit to the craft of karate. Technique is part of your training, as is your attitude to karate. Most people take typically between 2-4 years to reach this achievement with consistent, regular practice.

To add to your expertise in training we have two visits per year from Japanese instructors to oversee your progress.

How often are gradings?

Gradings occur up to 5 times per year pending need. Students need to be present at gradings to progress through the various belt colours – white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown – before achieving a black belt ranking.

What do I wear to class?

For your first class wear loose, comfortable clothes like a t-shirt and track pants or leggings. Once you join, you can purchase a traditional white karate gi (uniform) at a subsidised cost. You will also receive a white belt.

What do classes cost?

Your first class or two will be free.

Regular classes are:
$8 student
$10 adults

Membership is $95 per year.

Do you enter competitions?

We send a team to a national training seminar and competition each year which is held at various interstate locations. What a great way to meet like-minded students in different parts of Australia!
